After being forced out of their home in Jerusalem by the Romans, 900 Jews were ensconced in a fortress at Masada, a mountain in the Judean desert. Besieged at Masada, the Jews held out for months against the vast Roman armies. The events are recounted from the perspective of a few extraordinary women who arrive at Masada with unique backstories, but a common bond for survival. Additionally, these women, who work together daily as dovekeepers, are all concealing substantial secrets. This four-hour limited event series is based on Alice Hoffman’s bestselling, critically acclaimed historical novel.

Men in Trees is an American romantic television comedy-drama series which premiered on September 12, 2006 on ABC and starred Anne Heche who played relationship coach Marin Frist. The series was set in the fictional town of Elmo, Alaska and concerned Marin Frist’s misadventures in relationships. The premise showed at least superficial similarities to the HBO television series Sex and the City, which also featured a romantically-oriented, female writer. The protagonist’s apparent “fish-out-of-water” feeling in a remote, small, Alaskan town can be likened to CBS’s Northern Exposure. The protagonists in both series were New Yorkers thrust into small town Alaska societies. Filming for the series was based in Squamish, British Columbia.

Five episodes of the first production season, which were not yet shown on ABC, debuted in New Zealand on the TV2 network in June 2007 and July 2007. The five carryover episodes aired on ABC after the first episode of the second production season, beginning October 19. Men In Trees was cancelled on May 4, 2008. Its final episodes aired in the summer of 2008 as a burnoff.

Andra Avenyn was a Swedish drama series and soap opera, produced by SVT and broadcast from 2007 to 2010. Three series were produced. The show was created by Peter Emanuel Falck and Christian Wikander, who also created the Swedish soap operas Varuhuset, Rederiet and Tre kronor. For the title music, they used the song Friday I’m in Love by the British rock band The Cure.

The series was shot in Gothenburg for SVT. Interior scenes were recorded in a recording studio, Santos House, on Lindholmen while outdoor scenes were recorded mainly in Kvillestaden/Brämaregården on Hisingen in Gothenburg. Andra Avenyn was nominated for the Kristallen TV Prize in 2008, in the category of “The best Swedish TV series”, but did not win. Two of the series actors, Fortesa Hoti and Jonas Bane, were nominated for the Aftonbladet TV Prize 2008, but neither won.

SVT decided to cancel Andra Avenyn after the final episode, which was broadcast on SVT1 on 5 May 2010.
